Smart devices are everywhere, but which devices do homeowners really need? Which smart household devices are essential? I put together a list of the 10 smart household devices that I believe are non-negotiable. Each of these smart devices can save you time, money, and even give you piece of mind.

WiFi Water Leak Detectors With Alarm

If your home doesn’t have water leak detectors, I urge you to invest in these affordable leak detectors. When water is detected, the device alarm goes off, and because these are WiFi, they also send you an app notification to your phone! So, it doesn’t matter if you are home or away, you will know as soon as you have a water leak. These have already saved me TWICE! I really like this brand too, because they offer multiple smart alert devices, and they can all be managed in one app.

WiFi Refrigerator/Freezer Thermometer with Alarm

Do you ever worry that your deep freeze that is full of thousands of dollars worth of meat may stop working while you are away? These refrigerator and freezer thermometers are a must have! Easily check your refrigerator or freezer temperatures from wherever you are through the app. You can set up custom temperature thresholds, and receive alarms and alerts in the app when temps go outside these thresholds.

Robot Vacuum

I’m obsessed with my Shark Robot Vacuum! It does such a good job cleaning my floors and it covers every square inch! I prefer the Shark brand, as I have had really outstanding luck with these!

Robot Mop

Well of course you also need a Robot Mop! If you have LVP, or other hard surface floors, then you really need to get the Shark Robot Vacuum/Mop combo! I love how I can just send my robot mopper out right from my phone, and come home to a fresh smelling home with beautiful shining floors!

Another one of my non-negotiable smart home devices is a smart thermostat. You can easily set schedules, and access and control your thermostat from anywhere. Smart thermostats are so convenient and the app makes it so easy to set everything up and customize.

I can’t live without an electronic keypad door lock. It is so convenient to go keyless, and just simply use a keypad or your fingerprint to open your door. Don’t’ worry about making spare keys for family members or friends. Simply create a keycode for them, and they are all set!

Smart Garage Door Opener and Video Keypad

These smart garage door openers and video keypads are seriously so cool. Can’t remember if you shut the garage door, or need to let a delivery person into the garage? Easy, just open or close the garage door right from the app!

Digital Wall Calendar and Smart Family Dashboard

Honestly, every home needs to have a security system in place. I really like the Ring Doorbell, Ring Indoor/Outdoor Cameras. These are very affordable, and work extremely well. I especially love the video doorbell, which allows me to answer and interact with visitors even while I am away.

Amazon Echo Devices

Amazon Echo Devices are a must-have smart device for every home. There are so many Echo devices to choose from, including the Echo Dot, Echo Show and Echo Spot! I love that from anywhere in my house, I can ask for my favorite song to be played, get a weather update, or ask any other question!

Smart devices for the home have changed the way we live in so many ways. In my opinion, they’ve made our lives a lot easier and more convenient. I love the peace of mind I get from my Ring cameras, and water leak and freezer temp devices. I also really enjoy not having to vacuum and mop as often, allowing me to come home to clean floors!
