This post is all about Coretec Cairo Oak flooring and our experience with this LVP flooring option.
Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring: Honest Review and Impressions. Updating your flooring is one of the most impactful ways to refresh your home, which is why choosing the right flooring is so important. With so many options—hardwood, tile, laminate, carpet, and more—it can feel overwhelming. When we decided to update the flooring on our main level, I knew I wanted to go with Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP). The type of flooring was an easy choice, but narrowing it down to the perfect brand, style, and color took a little more time.
So, why LVP? For starters, I prefer hard surface floors over carpet because they’re so much easier to clean—especially when spills happen (and they always do!). Plus, LVP has become the go-to flooring choice in new homes lately, and for good reason. It’s waterproof, scratch-resistant, and incredibly durable, making it perfect for busy households like ours.
Normally, I’m quite indecisive when it comes to picking styles. I need to see all the samples, analyze them under every type of lighting, and—of course—second-guess myself a hundred times. But this time was different. About a year ago, I noticed a post on social media featuring the most gorgeous floors I’d ever seen. I thought to myself, “I need to save this just in case we ever update our flooring!” Fast forward to now, and I went back to that same link. I STILL loved those floors just as much as the first time I saw them. The floors? Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring.
Of course, I did my homework first. I researched the specs, read through the warranty, and checked out the installation instructions. I also went through customer reviews and scrolled through tons of photos of this flooring installed in real homes. Overall, I felt really confident in my choice. Any negative reviews seemed to focus on installation issues rather than the quality of the product itself.
When I found a great price on Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring through FloorCity.com, I didn’t hesitate—I placed my order!
If you are going to do this flooring installation yourself, here are some essential supplies that you will want to have on hand!
Coretec Cairo Oak – Installation Supplies List
- LVP Flooring Install Kit – Comes with a rubber mallet, pull bar, and tapping block.
- LVP Flooring Cutter – Highly Recommend getting one of these
- Henry’s 549 FeatherFinish – For leveling subfloor
- Flooring Spacers
- Table Saw
- Miter Saw – For cutting baseboards
- Jigsaw
Installation Preparation
Our main floor originally had a mix of ceramic tile and wood floors, and while we wanted to update the look, we weren’t ready to rip out all of the existing wood. The floors were still in great shape, and it just didn’t make sense to remove them. So, we decided to install our new Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring right over the existing floors. According to Coretec, this is completely acceptable as long as all of their installation requirements are met.
Remove Baseboards
We removed all our baseboards because we decided to replace all of them. Then, I just painted all of my new baseboards. I found it was very easy to paint them all at once!
Floor Leveling and Grout Filling
There were a few areas on our floors that needed to be leveled to meet Coretec’s installation guidelines. To get everything perfectly smooth, we used Henry’s 549 Feather Finish, which worked great. Since our ceramic tile had grout lines, we decided to fill them in as well—even though Coretec’s guidelines didn’t require it. We just didn’t want to take any chances with telegraphing (where the grout lines might show through the LVP). Taking these extra prep steps gave us peace of mind that our Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring install would turn out beautifully and keep us fully covered under Coretec’s warranty.
Door Jambs and Doors
Since the flooring will be installed over our existing flooring, we needed to check to make sure the doors would still clear. All of our exterior doors were fine, but we did have to trim down the interior doors to allow the additional height of the new floor. We also had to cut our door jambs a little in order to allow the flooring to slide under. This oscillating tool made that process, super simple.

Here is the gorgeous Coretec Cairo Oak Flooring! I separated each box into piles of similar patterns, so I could easily make sure I kept with a random pattern on the floor.
Progress made on the first night!
These really went together very easily. The Coretec Cairo Oak comes in 9″ x 73″ planks. We found that it was easier to have two people lining up and connecting the planks.
