Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess
The first thing I want to explain is the relationship between the Tropical Deluxe Princess and the Caribe Deluxe Princess. They’re essentially the same resort, just located on opposite sides of the property. All the amenities including the pools, beach access, restaurants, and the lobby are shared, so it really feels like one large resort with two different sections. The Tropical side is geared a bit more toward families, offering family suites with bunk beds and an extra bathroom, which is a nice perk if you’re traveling with kids.
Check-In Experience at Tropical Deluxe Princess, Punta Cana
Checking in at the Tropical Deluxe Princess was a breeze. Our shared transportation from the airport dropped us off at the front lobby. There were employees there that helped us with our bags and directed us to the lobby to check-in. The check-in process was simple and took around 5 minutes.

After check-in, they loaded our baggage onto trolleys and we hopped on. The process took a bit longer than we expected. We didn’t realize the trolley was making stops to drop off each group of guests at their rooms. At every stop, the driver got out, unloaded luggage, and personally showed each guest to their room. Meanwhile, the rest of us just sat and waited. We ended up spending about 30 minutes on the trolley at the Caribe side of the resort before finally heading to the Tropical side. If you don’t want to wait through this process, you could grab your bags and just walk over to the Tropical Deluxe Princess (it’s not far at all)!

Family Suite Room at Tropical Deluxe Princess in Punta Cana
We booked the Family Suite room and I was really impressed with the room. I was worried about the size of the bunk beds that I had seen in the resort photos, but in person the bunk beds were actually plenty big. I loved how the room was separated into two separate rooms, and I really appreciated that we had two bathrooms. The second bathroom was so convenient when getting the entire family ready to go to supper and other activities.

The room was clean, and the housekeeping did a great job! Tip: I’ve seen people complain online that the housekeeping doesn’t provide new towels. I’m pretty sure there was a card in the room that said to place any towels you want replaced on the shower floor. That’s how housekeeping knows to swap them out. We followed those instructions and always had fresh towels each day.
The main bed was comfortable, and the bunk beds were really cool and fun for the kids. I loved sitting out on the balcony where I had a great view of the pool and ocean!
Overall, I was really happy with our room. Another important tip: The AC will automatically turn off in the room if the balcony door is left slightly open. We had this happen. When we called to report the AC they immediately had us check the balcony door. Once we closed it, the AC came right back on.
Grounds and Amenities
I give the grounds a 10/10. It was absolutely gorgeous and so well maintained. I loved the tropical walk between the main lobby where you could see all kinds of iguanas, peacocks, turtles, and so many other tropical creatures!

The beach was also 10/10! The sand was absolutely amazing, and the beach was HUGE! We had no problem getting a group of the tiki covered beach beds each day. The water was pretty wavy, which was very fun for my kids. We actually walked up to the main store at the front lobby and purchased boogie boards. The kids loved riding the waves on those! We spent most our days just hanging out at the beach and going back and forth between the beach and pool.

Tips:
- Don’t pack beach towels! The resort provides one very large beach towel per guest that you can check-out. Just be sure to return it before you leave.
- Bring a beach bag! Here is my favorite cheap beach bag that is easy to pack and works perfectly for toting things between the beach/pool. Best Travel Beach Bag
The pools were also really great. On our first day, we hung out at the pool closest to the Caribe Deluxe. That’s where all the activities and contests happen, and it’s also the one with the swim-up bar. It was definitely a fun vibe, but it could get pretty loud, especially on weekends when a lot of locals come to party.
Tip: Bring your favorite travel bottle. They will fill it for you with your favorite drinks!

After that, we spent most of our time at the other pool near the Beach House. We liked it better because it was a bit more low-key and had a lunch buffet right there, which made it super convenient to grab lunch without heading back to the main buffet.
There’s also another pool area by the kids’ water park. It looked like a lot of little ones were having a blast over there, but it’s definitely geared more toward younger children.
Dining Options at Tropical Deluxe Princess in Punta Cana
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to try any of the resort’s sit-down restaurants since my family preferred the flexibility of the buffets. We liked being able to eat whenever we wanted. That said, I really enjoyed the main buffet. There were tons of options, and both the food and service were great. The breakfast buffet, in particular, was my favorite!

*Our trip was over Halloween, and we were SO impressed with how the buffet was decorated. They had Halloween inspired treats throughout the entire buffet. It was so cool!
We also loved the lunch snack buffet at the Beach House. It became our go-to spot for a quick and convenient midday meal. And of course, we made it a nightly tradition to stop by the ice cream shop near the main lobby. So good!

Would I Stay at Tropical Deluxe Princess Again?
Honestly, I would! I had such a great vacation, and this resort was clean and just the right size for my family. If I go back to Punta Cana, I will very likely choose this resort again!
Top 10 Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana Must-Haves
Before you go to Punta Cana, you need to have these essentials with you!
- Waterproof Beach Bag – This is a MUST! We carried our beach bag everywhere. Here is the one I purchased and LOVED: Best Beach Bag
- Waterproof Phone Cases – I bought a multi-pack of these and we wore them around our neck. You are going to want to take photos, and you can wear these in the water to get the best shots! I can vouch for these waterproof phone cases: Waterproof Phone Cases
- Water Shoes – We did not pack these, and wished we would have. Our excursion was to Scape Park and shoes were required on the zip lines. We had to get our tennis shoes soaking wet. Don’t be like us… bring water shoes! Adult Water Shoes | Kids Water Shoes
- Beach Cup – You can’t drink the water in Punta Cana, so if you are vacationing to a beach location where you can’t drink the water, be sure to bring an insulated beach cup. They will fill these for you at the bars/buffets. These BrüMate Era Leakproof Tumblers (#ad) are my Favorite!
- Sun Care Essentials. Important Tip! Bring your own sunscreen. The prices of the sunscreen at the resort shops is unbelievable! This sunscreen is my favorite: Sunscreen SPF 50
- Bug Spray and Itch Relief. While we did not have any bug issues, many travelers note sand fleas and mosquitos. We packed bug spray and anti-itch cream to have on hand.
- Cheap Sunglasses. Don’t bring expensive sunglasses. I also recommend bringing multiple pairs. Our family lost two pairs in the ocean! Grab a multi-pack of sunglasses, and you’ll be all set. Multi-pack Men’s Polarized Sunglasses | Women’s 3-pack Sunglasses
- Sun Hat/Straw Hat. These beach hats are so cute and a MUST for a beach vacation! Sun Hat for Women | Sun Hat for Men
- Flip Flops/Sandals – Be sure to get fast drying beach sandals or flip flops. I ended up with blisters from constantly putting on my flip flops that were fabric and never dried. Check out these great options for everyone in the family. Men’s Beach Sandals | Women’s Beach Sandals | Kids Beach Sandals
- Swimwear. Obviously, you need to bring your favorite swimwear, but I have to share these seriously awesome swimming trunks that I got for my son. They have compression boxer briefs built-in, so no chafing. Check them out here: Boy’s Swim Trunks
